Matthew England obtained his PhD in 1992 from the University of Sydney.
He was a Fulbright Scholar, a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at CNRS France from
1992 - 1994 and then a Research Scientist in CSIRO Climate Change Research Programme from
1994-1995. He has been at the University of New South Wales since 1995, where he is
now an ARC Federation Fellow and co-Director of the Climate Change Research Centre.
He is an expert in the ocean's role in the global climate system, climate
change, and large-scale climate dynamics. England currently serves on the
CLIVAR International Working Group for Ocean Model Development, the board
of the ARC Earth System Science Network and is an Editor for Reviews of
Geophysics. When not studying climate, England enjoys surfing, swimming,
and hanging-out with his wife and three children.
