The Assignment 1 Solutions and the Assignment 2 Solutions have now been released. You can view your marks and feedback by visiting the Marks page on Canvas, selecting your assignment, and then clicking “View Feedback”.

The marks for Assignments 1, 2, and 3, and the total WeBWorK quiz marks have now been entered into the School system. Please use the "Check marks" button at the top of this page to check that all of your marks have been entered correctly. You can check your mark for Assignment 3 by comparing it to your expected mark according to the marking scheme.

Final Exam Information and Past Papers

The exam will take place at 09:50–11:30 on Thursday, 14th February 2019 in various locations (TBA). The cohort will be split across multiple classrooms. You will be been contacted and told which room your exam is in. Make sure that you complete your exam in the correct room.

Please bring a nonprogrammable calculator, pens, and your student ID card. Do NOT bring your own paper or programmable calculators into the examination room. Your calculator MUST have a University of Sydney approval sticker on it, which you can obtain from the Student Centre on Level 3 of the Jane Foss Russell Building. Please remove the cover of your calculator and only bring the calculator itself.

You will be given 10 minutes of reading time and then 90 minutes of writing time. The exam has two sections of equal weighting: 20 multiple choice questions, and 3 extended answer questions with multiple parts. To prepare for the exam, first attempt ALL tutorial questions, and then consult past exam papers (see below). You should also review the problems from the written assignments and the online quizzes.

For general information about exams, please see the University's “Exams” webpage.

We have made the following past MATH1002 exam papers available, as well as a collection of relevant problems from past MATH2061 exam papers:

Note that the MATH1002 syllabus changed in 2018, and hence some of our notation is different to what is used in the past papers. Also, some questions from the past papers are no longer relevant, and some new topics aren't covered in the past papers. Please refer to this Ed thread for modifications you can make to the questions and notation in the past papers so that you can complete as many of them as possible.

We will ONLY be releasing the official solutions to the 2012 exam, but students are encouraged to discuss solutions to any of the problems from the other exams on the Ed forum.

We strongly recommend attempting the past papers under exam conditions, without looking at the solutions until afterwards. Please note that the exams in 2012–2015 had 25 multiple choice questions, whereas the 2019 Summer School exam will only have 20 multiple choice questions (still worth 50% of your exam mark).
