Though a mathematician by training, I have been a computer systems officer in Mathematics at Sydney since 1982, working first on a VMS VAX/11-780, then from 1988 on Apollo Domain OS workstations under Unix, from 1995 on Alpha machines under Digital/Compaq/Tru64 Unix, and more recently on Debian Linux systems.

From March 2004 to May 2005 I was chair of the University's Federation of IT Providers Steering Committee.

From 18 July 2005 to 30 June 2006, I am on secondment as ICT Relationship Manager for the College of Sciences and Technology.
