UNSW Pure Maths Seminar: Rudolph -- Singular reduction and quantization for lattice gauge models

THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW SOUTH WALES

             DEPARTMENT OF PURE MATHEMATICS

Speaker: Prof. Gerd Rudolph (University of Leipzig)

Title: Singular reduction and quantization
         for lattice gauge models.

Date: Tuesday, 25 May 2009
Time: 12:00 noon
Venue: RC-4082, Red-Centre, UNSW

Abstract:

After a short introduction to the subject I will discuss
the following points:

-- The lattice gauge model as a Hamiltonian system with
   symmetries

-- Singular Marsden Weinstein reduction of this system

-- Canonical quantization (including remarks on the
   observable algebra and its representations)

-- How to include nongeneric gauge orbit strata on
   quantum level?

-- Open problems
