Title:
The search for the exotic - subfactors and conformal field theory

Abstract:
Subfactor theory provides a framework for studying modular invariant partition functions
in conformal field theory, and candidates for exotic modular tensor categories. I will
describe work with Terry Gannon on the search for exotic theories beyond those from
symmetries based on loop groups and finite groups.
