12 month Teaching Fellow in Pure Mathematics at Imperial

The Pure Section of the Department of Mathematics wishes to appoint a Teaching Fellow, to be in post by October 2012.
The main responsibility of the post will be to provide teaching cover (for up to ten hours a week of lectures and classes) for at least two undergraduate courses in Algebra taught by the Pure Section. The post holder will also carry out personal tutoring and undergraduate project supervision work within the Department of Mathematics.
The post holder must hold or expect to receive soon, a PhD or equivalent in mathematics or a closely-related subject. She/he must have recent experience, or be able to demonstrate the potential to teach undergraduate mathematics effectively and enthusiastically. It is expected that the post holder will also contribute to the research activity of the Pure Section.
The successful candidate must have proven competence in teaching skills and promoting effective learning and interaction with students, experience of teaching at an introductory undergraduate mathematics level with an ability to motivate engineering students in the study of mathematics and proven ability to work towards a goal or objective and to exercise initiative also ensuring equal opportunities objectives are met.
It is highly desirable that the successful candidate has the ability to contribute to the research profile of the department.
