Post-doctoral Research Fellowship in Portugal

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research fellowship in Mathematics, within the scope of the Portuguese Science Foundation (FCT) project "New Geometry and Topology" (PTDC/MAT/101503/2008), focused on categorification, gerbes, quantum topology and quantum gravity.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Mathematics (or equivalent) obtained preferably after January 1, 2008, and must show very strong promise in the following research areas (in order of preference):

Currently the PhD members of the project are: Rui Carpentier, Pedro Lopes, Marco Mackaay, Joao Faria Martins, Roger Picken, Goncalo Rodrigues, Paulo Semiao, Marko Stosic and Pedro Vaz. The position is for one year to start before the end of 2010, with the possibility of an extension for a second year subject to mutual agreement and budget approval. The salary is currently 17940 euros per annum, free of tax, with a minimum of 750 euros per annum support for conference participation. There are no teaching duties attached to the position.
