Brazilian scholarship program now open - "Science without Borders"
This scholarship program, managed by the Brazilian Ministry for Higher Education (CAPES) and the Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), aims to send up to 100,000 students abroad between now and 2014. The priority areas supported are medicine, nursing and health sciences, engineering and sciences.
Scholarships are provided for undergraduate study abroad, full PhDs and sandwich PhD programs (one year of research towards a home university qualification).
A call is now open for these programs, with periodic calls open for applications between now and 2014.
The full PhD scholarship program will pay up to 48 months of the PhD, including tuition fees, living allowance/stipend, overseas student health care and travel allowance. Applicants must have a full offer letter from the University of Sydney and meet the English language requirements for admission: here.
The sandwich PhD programs are for Brazilian applicants to spend up to 1 year overseas to undertake research towards their home institution PhD. This program provides a living stipend and travel allowance. See here.
The undergraduate program is for students to undertake up to one year of their undergraduate program overseas in priority areas. Applicants apply through the University of Sydney Study Abroad and Exchange program.
The International Student Office is managing the implementation of the program.
