Recognising tensor products and tensor-induced matrix groups.

    Wednesday 13th December, 2-3pm, Carslaw 275.

We discuss two related algorithms to recognise whether or not a given subgroup of GL(d, q) is a tensor product or is tensor-induced, and if so, to exhibit explicitly these decompositions. In particular we show that a matrix group which is a tensor product preserves a projective geometry on the underlying vector space, and exploit this equivalence to obtain the decomposition.
