Twisted Ktheory and representations of loop groups.
Friday 28th July, 121pm, Carslaw 275.
String theorists have recently revived interest in twisted
versions on Ktheory which were studied long ago by Karoubi, Donovan,
and others. A striking application of a pure mathematical nature which
has been discovered recently by Freed, Hopkins, and Teleman is to
describe the representation ring of a loop group as the twisted
equivariant Ktheory of a space.
