Algebra Seminar

I will explain a simple presentation for the irreducible representations of the Hecke algebra away from roots of unity. This was obtained from actions of the braid group on homology of certain spaces related to the punctured disk. I will speculate on possible new topological insights as to what happens at roots of unity.
