Kostant Theorem and HarishChandra modules

We will discuss the general concept of HarishChandra modules
defined for an associative algebra and its commutative subalgebra.
In particular we consider an analogue of the Kostant theorem (for a pair
consisting of the universal enveloping algebra of a Lie algebra and its
center) which provides sufficient conditions that guarantee the
extension of any character of the commutative subalgebra to an
irreducible HarishChandra module. The results are applied to the
restricted Yangians for gl(n). The talk is based on joint works with
Yu.Drozd, A.Molev and S.Ovsienko.
