Matt Fayers University of Cambridge Irreducible Specht modules for symmetric groups Friday 4th June, 12:05-12:55pm, Carslaw 373. In the modular representation theory of groups, it is interesting to know which ordinary irreducibles remain irreducible modulo a prime p. For the symmetric groups, this problem has recently been solved by the speaker, building on work of James/Mathas and Lyle. In the seminar, I shall outline the proof.
