Andrew Mathas University of Sydney The representation theory of the Ariki-Koike algebras Friday 22nd October, 12:05-12:55pm, Carslaw 175. The Ariki-Koike algebras are a class of finite dimensional algebras which rose to prominence because of their (conjectural) connections with the representations of the finite groups of Lie type (such as GLn(q)). This talk will give a survey of the representation theory of these algebras, with an emphasis on the combinatorial techniques that have been used to study them. If time permits I will also discuss the cyclotomic Schur algebras.
