The double blob algebra

I will give an introduction to the double blob algebra - a new algebra which is a generalisation of the blob algebra, which in turn is a generalisation of the Temperley-Lieb algebra. This seminar will be a report on work in progress, joint with M. Alvarez, P. P. Martin and R. M. Green, and I will give some indications on what is expected to be true about the representation theory of this algebra. I will also discuss how we further developed the techniques of globalisation and towers of recollement to analyse this algebra.
