The class algebras of the symmetric groups and the wreath products

We will describe connections between vertex algebras and the class algebras of the symmetric groups (and more generally of the wreath products), and give some applications. A key ingredient is the Jucys-Murphy elements for the symmetric groups as well as its generalization to the wreath products.
