Characterisation of complex manifolds by their automorphism groups.
Friday 5th November, 121pm, Carslaw 375.
For an ndimensional Kobayashihyperbolic complex manifold M, the
group of its holomorphic automorphisms is known to be a
finitedimensional Lie group. Let d(M) denote the dimension of the
group. We completely classify all M for which d(M) is bigger than or
equal to n^{2}+1. Indications are that for smaller values of d(M) an
explicit classification is unlikely to exist.
The work is joint with Steven Krantz (Washington University, St. Louis).
