Ian Melbourne School of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Surrey, UK The Lorenz attractor is mixing Wednesday 27th October 14:05-14:55pm, Carslaw Lecture Theatre 273. In joint work with Stefano Luzzatto and Frederic Paccaut, we study a class of geometric Lorenz attractors, introduced by Guckenheimer and Williams, and give a verifiable condition for such flows to be mixing. As a consequence, we show that the classical Lorenz attractor (Lorenz, 1963) is mixing.
