The scalar product of the standard basis vectors

By assumption the standard basis vectors i, j and k are mutually perpendicular, and of magnitude one. Hence by definition of the scalar product

  1. i · i = j · j = k · k = 1;
  2. i · j = i · k = j · k = 0.
