Information on computing:

  • Introductory notes on R: Rintro.pdf

  • If you are having problem running "process", try to reload with the following command:
    • load(url("http://www.maths.usyd.edu.au/u/michaels/process.RData"))
  • Information for both the R computing system and the process() utility for preparing weekly reports.
  • Copies of the TeXLive2005 CD are available from room 826; this can be used so that process() works at home.

Announcement for Survey Sampling

  • Please download the final version of the lecture note for chapter 4 when I have changed the notation for uniformity. Please also note that the formula sheet is shorten and revised accordingly. This formula sheet will be provided in the exam.
  • Please note that I have put on web the supplementary exercise for revision.
  • The deadline for the last practical report is still the Tuesday on Oct 27. I will mark this lab report when I return on Nov 14. Meanwhile, solution will be posted on web next week.
  • Please note that the lecture on next Tue and Wed will be on Multivariate and Categorial analysis given by Jean. On next Thur, there will be tutorial for week 12 and then on Friday, ass. sol. will be discussed. I will return back on Nov 16 (Mon) before the exam. on Nov 19 (Thur. 9:20am).
  • Please note that Q4 in the ass. is related to chapter 5 which is not covered. You need not attempt this question. Marked ass. will be returned to you after week 13. Please take it back from the open ass. box opposite Rm 821 on a date to be confirmed. Solution will be posted on web on week 13.
  • Formula sheet which was posted on web will be provided in the exam. Note that it was revised to give the definition of r bar dash in table 1.
