Two-dimensional harmonic map heat flowversus four-dimensional Yang-Mills heat flow
The two geometric flows in the title are the gradient flows associated to certain energy functionals. In the
considered dimension, (i.e. dimension two for the harmonic map heat flow, dimension four for the Yang-Mills
heat flow), the associated energy functional is (locally) conformally invariant, that is, the dimension is critical.
In this talk we discuss similarities and differences between the flows in certain symmetric situations.
