	About Geoff Ball
	Having obtained his Teaching Certificate at Sydney Teachers College and B.A. at the University of Sydney, Geoff taught for thirteeen years at various state secondary schools (including three years as Head of Department) before joining the Department of Pure Mathematics of the University of Sydney. On the formation of the School of Mathematics and Statistics, by the amalgamation of the Departments of Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics, Geoff was appointed Director of First Year Studies, a post he occupied until his retirement in 1996. He was appointed Schools Liaison Officer for the School of Mathematics and Statistics in March 2003.
