Speaker: Michael Mourao (Warwick)
Title: The set of rational points of an algebraic curve
Time & Place: 3:05pm-3:55pm, Thursday 3 November, Carslaw 535

Abstract: In this talk we will introduce the methods of Chabauty and the
Mordell-Weil Sieve. We will then show how a combination of these,
together with a "descent" argument, can be used to fully determine the set
of rational points of an algebraic curve (of genus greater than 1).

Speaker: Steve Donnelly (Sydney)
Title: Algorithms for Hilbert modular forms
Time & Place: 4:05pm-4:55pm, Thursday 3 November, Carslaw 535

Abstract: I will describe some of the algorithms used in Magma’s package
for Hilbert modular forms, and discuss data that I’ve collected for
quadratic fields.
