SUMS Meeting: Smith -- How to win at teaching high school maths

Hello fellow SUMS members,

I am pleased to announce that we have another guest speaker giving a talk.
This week it is none other than the one and only BEN SMITH. You might
remember him as the maths nerd from the almost-popular TV show Nerds FC,
which was on SBS last year, who can recite to 487 decimal places. But he is
not just a maths nerd/enthusiast, he is also a very experienced maths
teacher and tutor, who has been in the business for many, many years.

But now, Ben (from Nerds FC) is willing to show us the secrets to his
success for FREE. You too can learn how to become a better maths tutor, find
out what the most common problems are with teaching students, and learn a
bit about the newest syllabus and why it rocks/sucks (I think sucks, not
sure, come to the talk and you’ll find out!)

Even better, Ben (from Nerds FC) wants YOU to ask HIM your questions! If you
are hitting the same roadblock with your students, or you want the best way
to approach or deal with a particular problem/subject/situation in general,
then send him an email at
baloogymcboy@gmail.com
and he’ll make sure to answer your question at Friday’s talk!

Guys, this is not one to miss, Ben Smith (from Nerds FC) is not your typical
speaker!

Talk: How to WIN at teaching high school maths
Speaker: Ben Smith
Location: Carslaw 452
Date/Time: Friday, September 12, 1-2pm

Hope to see you there,
Gareth
