SUMS: Zhou -- Dictatorships are Flawless Democracies -- Voting Design and Impossibility Results

This week Bin Zhou is giving a talk on the game theory of voting design.

Feel like democracy isn’t really working for you? Find out why! This
talk is about the mathematical limits of voting systems from a game
theoretic perspective. We look at what desirable properties you can
demand from voting systems, such as respecting unanimous preferences
and ignoring irrelevant options, and Arrow’s famous "Impossibility
Theorem": any such voting system with more than 2 candidates is a
dictatorship!

When: Thursday 10th May, 1:00pm
