SMRI and MATRIX: Online Symposium with Professor Martin Hairer

February 2021 Symposium with Martin Hairer

Location: Online

Date: 3 Feb - 19 Feb 2021

Explore the mathematics of Fields Medallist Martin Hairer in the February 2021 online
symposium, jointly supported by SMRI and MATRIX. The three-week symposium will take
place over 3 Feb - 19 Feb 2021. It will feature talks by Professor Hairer on his work
in stochastic analysis and lecture discussions, including an accessible colloquium.

The schedule for the symposium has now been published on the symposium webpage
https://sites.google.com/monash.edu/symposium-with-martin-hairer/home

Professor Hairer’s Colloquium, titled ’Taming infinities’, will take place on
Wednesday 3 February at 20:00 AEDT. Professor Hairer will delve into the conceptual and
mathematical aspects of "renormalisation" techniques and how they have recently been
used in probability theory to study equations, the meaning of which were hitherto
unknown.

The program also includes talks by Australian mathematicians, mini-courses facilitated
by Professor Hairer and discussion meetings. The schedule will be updated over the
coming weeks. The Colloquium and other talks will be recorded and made available for
registered participants.

The symposium is organised by Beniamin Goldys (The University of Sydney), Ngan Le
(Monash University) and Pierre Portal (The Australian National University).
