Geometry & Topology Seminar

Thermodynamic Formalism for Countable Markov Shifts

Ofer Shwartz (Weizmann Institute of Science)

Thursday 16 November 12:00–13:00 in Carslaw 275.

Please join us for lunch after the talk!

Abstract: The main tool in the study of Thermodynamic Formalism is the Ruelle operator and in particular its eigenfunctions and eigenmeasures. In this talk we will present several results regarding the existence and uniqueness of these eigenfunctions and eigenmeasures, focusing on Markov shifts with finite or countable set of states.
