Statistics Seminar: Murray Cameron -- Evolving the PhD in mathematics and statistics

Most PhD graduates in the mathematical sciences have gone on to a 
career in academia. However, the nature of research in the 
mathematical sciences is changing, the expectations of PhD graduates 
and of employers are changing and the opportunities are broadening. 
How should the PhD program change?  There are global indications of 
how the PhD should change and these are starting to be adopted in 
Australia.  I will explain how mathematics is changing and how the 
PhD needs to evolve.
