Seminar: Masoud Kamgarpour -- Hitchin system and ramifications

Masoud Kamgarpour (Queensland) is giving a representation theory seminar on Wednesday
4-5pm, in Carslaw 830.  

Title: Hitchin System and ramifications 

Abstract: The Hitchin system is a remarkable mathematical object sitting at the
crossroad between geometry, representation, number theory, and physics.  The first half
of the talk will be a general introduction to this area of mathematics.  In the second
half, I will discuss some recent advances in understanding what happens to the Hitchin
system if one allows for â€œramificationâ€ at finitely many points.
