SUMS: Worthington -- Algorhythms

This week’s SUMS talk is being given by Joachim Worthington.

Abstract:

In the time-honoured tradition of using mathematics to overthink art, this
talk will investigate a few ways to generate and analyse some interesting rhythms. Along
the way, we’ll answer questions such as:

- What do regular polygons sound like?

- How does Euclid’s Algorithm for greatest common divisors help us work a drum machine?

- When is a rhythm "deep" or "even"?

A little bit of music, a little bit of maths, come along and listen to some fun sounds
and eat some tasty food!
