The growth rate for Baumslag-Solitar groups: Metric estimates and lower
bounds
In this talk we will give estimates (up to multiplicative constants) of
the distance of an element in the Baumslag-Solitar group BS(p,q), in terms
of the Britton's lemma normal form. Except for the case p=q, the exact
growth rate is unknown. We will give a lower bound for the growth rate
based on the metric estimate seen before. This is joint work with Murray Elder.
