SUMS: Ivan Guo -- The Divine Ratio

In mathematics and the arts, two quantities are in the golden ratio (or the divine
proportion) if the ratio of the sum of the quantities to the larger quantity is equal to
the ratio of the larger quantity to the smaller one. It has important significance in
mathematics, arts and architecture. This talk will introduce and explore this constant
and its relations to the pentagram, Fibonacci numbers, the princess problem and Beatty
sequences.
