Title: Embeddings of Surfaces in Differentiable 4-Manifolds 

Abstract: for surfaces smoothly embedded in 4-manifolds, there is the natural problem of
finding the minimal genera among all those representing a given homology class of the
ambient manifold.  

As a typical problem in the study of 4-manifolds, many important modern techniques
including Donaldson Theory and Seiberg-Witten Theory are used to solve it.

This is a mini-three-lecture series, aiming at providing an overview of this topic at
the introductory level.  

The content could be adjusted according to the audience.
