I have written a short introduction which describes how to use LaTeX to write your fourth year essay. You can down load this introduction as either a dvi file or as a pdf file. The introduction should be enough to get you started with LaTeX, however, it is not intended to be a complete guide. You may also find it helpful to look at the guides listed below under TeX resources; in addition, you can try reading the LaTeX source for the introduction. The look and feel of a latex document are controlled, to some extent, by a class file. I have written such a class file specifically for typesetting fourth year essays (and masters and PhD theses) at the University of Sydney. Both my introduction and the skeletonuse this class file. In addition to illustrating some of the features of LaTeX these files show what your essay will look like if you use my class file. I have also written a skeleton (or template) for starting your essay using this class file. Finally, if you want to be able to LaTeX your essay on your home computer using my class file then you will need to put a copy of the file usydthesis.cls on your computer. |
