Electron Correlation and its Importance in Chemistry

    Wednesday, August 2nd, 2-3pm, Carslaw 173.

The achievement of "chemical accuracy" in the theoretical prediction of thermochemistry has been a holy grail of modern computational quantum chemistry. Nowadays this is a realistic aim and the purely ab initio computation of such data is gradually being achieved for more and more chemical systems. The concept of electron correlation and methods for its efficient calculation will be discussed along with examples of their application to current chemical research problems.
