2021 Mathematics Extension 1 Bridging Course

If you intend majoring in mathematics, computer science or physics, or an Engineering course at the University of Sydney, you require a good understanding of HSC Mathematics Extension 1 (3-Unit).

The Extension 1 bridging course is for you if you have completed and have a good understanding of HSC Mathematics and wish to enrol in a course which has an assumed knowledge of HSC Mathematics Extension 1. The content will cover selected topics from Mathematics Extension 1 that we believe will be of most benefit to students. For details about the content Click here.

Course Details

The Extension 1 Bridging Course will begin on Monday 8 February 2021, after students have received their offers of places from UAC. The course will be offered in two formats: a day course, and an evening course. Each course consists of 12 two-hour classes.

Class sizes are small, so that students can receive the maximum amount of individual attention. Students are expected to spend at least two hours per day on private study and homework during the Bridging Course.

Although the course is specifically designed to help students enrolling in first year mainstream mathematics units at the University of Sydney, students planning to enrol at other institutions may also attend. Please note that no examinations are held for bridging courses.

The fee for either course is $435. Fees include GST and cover 24 hours of tuition in small classes, a book of exercises with brief notes, and the opportunity to spend two additional hours each day in the Mathematics Learning Centre, where individual help is available. Fees must be paid by credit card (Mastercard or Visa only) when completing the enrolment form (see below).
