Symmetries of the squashed sigma models

It is known that the Yangian and the quantum affine algebra are the infinite dimensional algebras which belong to the rational and trigonometric type respectively. In this talk, I will explain that these two different kinds of symmetries are simultaneously realized in a certain two dimensional classical field theory with the target space squashed three sphere, which is a one parameter deformation of the three sphere.

This is based on the collaboration work arXiv:1203.3400 and arXiv:1201.3058 with Io Kawaguchi and Kentaroh Yoshida (Kyoto University).
