Undergraduate Study

Majors and Minors in the School of Mathematics and Statistics

The School of Mathematics and Statistics at Sydney offer students a well-rounded understanding of the discipline, combined with the much sought-after design, research and problem-solving skills needed to help fathom some of the world's most convoluted problems.

Selecting your Major or Minor

There are four different majors/minors you can take in the school of Mathematics and Statistics:

The units of study that make up each major/minor are classified according to four streams: Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, Statistics and Data Science. The units are classified at different levels suited to students of varying ability. These are: Fundamental, Mainstream, and Advanced. You can obtain your desired major regardless of the levels of the units you choose.
