Combinatorial Harmonic Maps

Abstract

In joint work with Joel Hass, we have defined a combinatorial version of harmonic maps. I will start with a brief discussion of classical harmonic maps, concentrating on the properties of most interest to us. Then I will describe our combinatorial version, explain our motivation, and give some applications.
